MICK NADIN WARNS..............BEWARE OF MR. FIXIT !

Mick originally set his lyrics for Mr Fixit as a story about a handyman.......you know, that friendly guy who comes in to do the odd job about the house. But while he was running the lyrics around his head Chris Ralfs strolled into The Shed and laid down a heavy hittin' bass line........... no particular context, just Ralfin' around. Chris does that.

Mick loved Chris's riff, and figured he might put two and two together. Suddenly the mild mannered tradey became a rather nasty, not to be crossed, ugly piece of work ...........a handy man with a gun !  A man with a serious nature.   Proud of his workmanship........ indeed !

A song about a dude like that has to pump, no doubt about that ay, so we dialled up  some gritty settings and off we went.

We recorded the basic track, added a bit of this and a layer of that. Neil took it home for a twiddle, and THIS is what came out.

Of course we of The Shed have no issues with the good folk of Frankston........... love 'em...............but we do have a cautionary warning...... ............'if you happen to be hanging out down Frankston way and you come across a nasty looking codger knocking back Whisky Sours, just nod politely and quickly move on...........nothing to see here thank you !!

Mick Nadin wrote and sang the lyrics
Chris Ralfs came up with the bass riff but he wasn't there when we turned on the recorder, so
Louise Nadin played the bass
Manny Aigner played the guitar (s)
Graham Brown shook the tambourine
Pete played the drums
Neil produced the track

MANNY AIGNER'S 'BUT MOSTLY'

Manny's been at it again. Thing is, he's versatile. So, a cuppla weeks back, when just Manny, Mick and Pete were hanging in The Shed, we figured what the hell, no matter, the three of us could probably do something useful.

As it happened, a week before, we had been foolin' about with Manny's 'But Mostly'. We liked it, and thought we'd give it a shot.

What with Manny being able to handle the guitar, bass and vocals, we figured the three of us could put it together layer by layer.

So we turned on the recorder and laid down a scratch take with Manny on rhythm guitar and vocals, Mick on harp, and Pete on drums. Then we added Manny on bass. Then we added Manny on lead. Pete wanted to re-do his drum track, so he did, and that was about that. Top to bottom in less than three hours. Great fun !!

Manny wrote But Mostly inspired by the idea that every situation we find ourselves can be viewed as an opportunity to learn. Manny believes everything is transitory - being rich, being poor, being famous, being healthy, being sick.............it's only the way that we view such life experiences that give them real meaning. He believes it behoves us to learn from everything we go through.

Manny sees negative emotions like blame, jealousy, and vengeance, as wasteful responses to life's experiences. For Manny, such emotions are peripheral.......... they shift our focus away from what are really opportunities to grow into a better person.

As Manny sings..................."But mostly you've got nothin' honey, if you don't learn from it all "

It's a great song thanks Manny and we are very pleased to add it to the PBGB oeuvre. More of those please sir !!

Manny wrote it, sang it and played the guitar and bass
Mick played the harp
Pete drummed

We sent it up to Neil who did a great job of tying it all together.

Have a LISTEN.
